Sarah and The New School (Narrative Essay) -By Fadhlan Zaqwan

Sarah and the New School

This story is about a girl named Sarah and her struggle with the discrimination that are happening to her because of her gender. Her father was an office worker, one day she must reroll on a new school due to her father work post being changed to another place. Sarah knew this day will come and have accepted it.

And so, the day awaiting has come, she was rerolling in a new school named Dunkelberg. The first few days was fine she was having a blast. But a certain time have passed she noticed a few things that were amiss during the school events the sports day. Sarah was confident on her speed and stamina because of her past so she decided to volunteer herself to join the sprinting race. To her disappointment she was rejected to join in. She looks onto the track and all the team was fill with the boys. She wonders why but did not pay mind to much after a few minutes.

After a while, the school had another event called Maulidur Rasul. It was joyous day, everywhere Sarah looks whether it was left or right everyone was happily cooking, eating, and talking to each other. 2 o clock has struck, and it is time to clean up the place and washed the plated and pot that have been used for cooking. And then she noticed something was amiss again, all the cleaner was made of the female students. Sarah went furious and find the nearest teacher to talked about it. But the teacher just feigns ignorance and says, “well it is not the female job to do this kind of stuff?”. Sarah was in shock hearing that and then proceed to say, “is that the same reason the school refuse the girls to join in sport?”. Then the teacher answer “Well yeah the boys have better stamina than the girls”.

After hearing both of that answer Sarah promised to the teacher that she will prove their school mindset is wrong and is outdated. In 2 more weeks, the schools will hold the marathon events and this time Sarah vow that she will break the school best time records for all gender. And so, she practiced and practiced.

The prominent day has come, and so as Sarah have promised she broke the time record of all time in that school. As always, the winner can give a small speech at the hall. Sarah says, “I have proven to you all whether or not is it a girls or boys we all can do the same thing why differentiate our role aren’t we all the same, a human!”.
