CAUSES OF GENDER INEQUALITY IN CULTURE (EXPOSITORY ESSAY) - MUHAMMAD AIZAT

Gender inequality in culture is a problem that cannot be taken lightly by humans. This is because, this problem has appeared for a long time and it is not a new problem. Gender inequality in culture refers to differences in the treatment, public recognition or status of cultural norms, practices, symbols and customs of different gender groups. This problem can occur due to several factors such as racial problems, old beliefs and politics.

The first factor that contributes to this problem is racism. Gender inequality and racial aspects will be related if there are countries with racial diversity such as in Malaysia, America and so on. When there is racial diversity in a place, it inevitably leads to different beliefs and ideologies according to individuals. The bad effect if this problem is not managed well is that there will be many problems such as fights that are deliberately caused and then cause the problem of gender inequality in culture.

In addition, the factor that causes the problem of gender inequality in culture is that most people still follow old beliefs. As we know, many old beliefs that are practiced give advantage to men and do not recognize the capabilities of women in everyday life. For example, in Korea there is a work culture that is still used to this day where employees have to work overtime and have to spend time with their boss outside of work hours. If this culture continues, the rate of sexual problems involving different genders will increase and cause some individuals, especially women, to fear going out to work.

Next, another factor that affects this problem is the lack of female political representatives. This is because, we can see the majority of political representatives today, men will dominate the political scene compared to women. This is because many people think that women cannot be involved in politics when it doesn't matter whether men or women, all have equal rights in politics. When this problem cannot be solved in a good way, the freedom of speech for women seems to be blocked and it causes them to feel that they are marginalized.

In conclusion, we cannot deny that this problem is really happening in our lives today no matter where we are. Therefore, various methods need to be implemented to prevent this problem from recurring. This is because of all the factors that have shown bad and not good effects for today's life.
