ASPECTS OF GENDER INEQUALITY (AINUR IMAN SYAMIMI)
ASPECTS OF GENDER INEQUALITY IN SOCIETY (EXPOSITORY)
Do you know about
gender inequality? Gender inequality is generally known as a gender
discriminations between male and female that are treating unfair by the
community nowadays. This topics should be emphasized because our society often
takes this matter lightly and not realizing this little things affects a lot of
people. By the research, more than 50% female experience discriminations in the
workplace. Additionally, this issue has become more serious until make the
courts and many agencies have to deal with a lot of cases about the
discrimination against women. This statement shows that most women face unequal
treatment in many aspects compared to men. However, gender inequality consists
of unequal rights in many aspects such as economy, education and social life.
Fistly, gender
inequality in economy is lack of equal rights in workplace. Women are not given
job opportunities compared to men in many industry. This thing happened because
they think women are weak and not deserved to do heavy and many work. Moreover,
they often make generalizations such as women are too emotional to deal with
the pressure or high positions or women will face a big problems when they are
holding high positions because it is difficult. For example, women’s participation in politics is not encouraged and
very low in this age. Furthermore, women also only given the type of work
that is boring, unskilled and repetitive such as clerk.
This issue focused on gender inequality in education. Education should
not be given inequality because all the students need to learn the same things
either male or females. However, there also a lot discriminations between
females and male in education. Firstly, there is no equality of
opportunity in subjects. As an examples, male students are more involved in
engineering course than female even though some of females’s student also
interested in that course . Other than that, most of women also take
subjects household economy even though some male students have a tendency in
the field of cooking but are not given the opportunity.
Last but not least,
gender inequality in social life can be seen easily while doing household
chores. Likewise, household chores at the home mostly completed by the women in
a big family which is mother and sister while others siblings did not
participated in doing house chores. This action completely wrong because every
family member need to work together to reduce the mother’s burden. It is
because nowadays all the mothers need to cook, washing clothes and clean the
house even though some of the mothers just got back from the work. In
conclusion, household chores should be done equally from both gender to make
great bond in family.
In conclude, gender
inequality need to be overcome and all parties involved must play their
respective roles to make gender equality an achievable target to create a
developed country.

My name is Mary and im living in abandoned house.
Im living there with my mother. My dad left me and my mother since I was 3
years old. My life is not easy and Im having such a rough time since I
was child. From primary school, I get bullied, discriminates and isolated by my
friends and my classmates until I continue my studies in secondary school. I

friends. They don’t like me because I wear worn shoes, have big body size and
ugly. I don’t have any closest friend and im doing all things alone. This
matter traumatized me until now.
Everyday, my classmates will give their
homeworks to me and asked me to finished theirs as a payback they will give me
a money. I have no choice other than that. They keep called me such a needy and
very poor. I was fully drained and exhausted. I want to end my high school life
badly. Im working as a part timer nearest my house to gain some money to buy
school supplies, helping my mother and house equipments. Not just that, most of
my teachers also treated me unequally compared to other students.
One day, my diary get opened by my classmates. My
diary tells everything about my truth feelings and how I really hate those
people who are bullied me inside the diary. One of my classmates, Julia, spread
out my diary through their group chats and everything being messed up. I
getting bullied over and over starting from that day. The next day, they
scribbled my school uniform and they throw a bucket of water at me. I was
crying heavily when im going home. After that, they wrote a lot of negative
things at my locker such as “you’re big such a monster”, “you’re ugly as a
witch”. A lot of people starring at my locker and laughing towards me. Without
realizing, I stand at the rooftop’s school and the last thing I thought is I want
to suicide.
Suddenlly, my hand was grabbed by one guy and he stopped
me. He straight away brought me to principal’s room . When I step inside, my
mothers crying and hugged me rightaway. Principal told me one of my classmates
named Adam reports this bullying case and send some evidence as a proof because
he was worried about me. Im trully honoured because he saved my life. I am
advised by the principal to always inform the discipline teacher if something
like this happens again. I thanked Adam for his kindness and being brave to
stand up this case for me. Lastly, the students who involved get their
punishment and get suspended from the school.
