Custody Right Scream (Narrative)

Custody Right Scream - by Nur Syazlianah

Is your world turned upside down because you're playing tug of war with your children? It was five years ago when parents fought for their own custody rights over their children. Mrs. Adam and Ms. Anna were fighting each other to hire very useful and experienced lawyers. They were on fire when it came to children's topics.

Once there was a happy family that lived in the city of Kuala Lumpur. This married couple has one child that brings luck to their family. In the quiet night sky and the stars playing with each other, Mrs. Adam is busy handling his crying child that wants milk. Meanwhile, Ms. Anna covers her ears with a pillow and continues to sleep. This habit repeated every night until her husband questioned Ms. Anna's responsibilities as a mother.

Everything was fine until Mrs. Adam filed for divorce and claimed child custody. Luck is not on Mrs. Adam’s side because Ms. Anna got child custody without a battle, with a strong reason. It was inequality for Mrs. Adam as a father just because of society’s perspective, which says children need their mother more than their father even though both of them work and are able to cover the expenses. In the next court hearing, his old friend tried his best as a lawyer to fight child custody for Mrs. Adam because of the fact that he takes care of his child more than his wife. Still, luck is not on his side. Mrs. Adam accepted the court’s decision.

The next day, he continued his new life without a child and wife by his side. It was sad, luckily his ex-wife was considerate enough to allow her ex-husband to visit her son without limits every month. Ms. Anna does not prohibit the right as she is busy working overseas and often leaves her child at the babysitter's home. Mrs. Adam spends time well with his child and had a conversation. “I’m sorry because not able to get custody right over you. I promise you will be fine in your mother’s care. Don’t be naughty and listen well to your mother” while stroking his son's head.

As time went by, their child grew up and behaved well with both of them. Their child understands what's happening between their parents and not question it more about it. The child custody was still the same and Mrs. Adam kept meeting his child every weekend and gave monthly expenses for Ms. Anna and his child.
